Membership Costs
Brown Owl membership is $30 per annum.
Handling fee
The handling fee for all pick-up points is $6 per order.
Each online order incurs a handling fee, which goes towards getting your custom box packed and out to the destination of your choice. (View the pick up suburbs and times on the FAQ page, once you're logged in as a member.) In order to make healthy, organic food more accessible to the wider community, these costs are partially subsidised by Brown Owl. Additionally, a wonderful benefactor provides the packing premises for a nominal rental.
Delivery
A delivery to your home or workplace is $10 (including the handling fee) and is available within the city and Ngongotaha township areas, and outlying areas that are within a kilometre of other pick-up points. If you are unsure whether you can get a home delivery, please enquire to operations@brownowl.nz before placing your order.
How Brown Owl Food Club membership works
Anyone can shop in our Ranolf St. store during shop hours. Members receive a 5% discount on most in-store items (excludes local produce and a few other low-margin items).
Only Members can buy products online; online ordering is open every weekend. Delivery is on the following Wednesday.
Brown Owl members receive a larger discount when ordering online, than when shopping in-store. This helps to offset the fees incurred on each online order. Order fees are fixed per order, so the larger your order, the more value you get! (Note if you order more than once in a weekend, the fees will be removed from secondary orders prior to invoicing.)
Online ordering
Online ordering opens weekly on Friday afternoon and closes at 9.00pm on Sunday. You will receive an e-mail notification when ordering opens.
Ordering is customised – you just order what you want, on whichever weeks you want it. We don't currently offer recurring or fixed price boxes.
Pick up/delivery
Orders are packed off-site by volunteers on Wednesday mornings, and delivered out to the various pick-up points or homes and workplaces on Wednesday afternoons.
Pick-up points are located in Glenholme (the shop), Hamurana, Owhata, Lynmore and Lake Okareka. Lake Tarawera pick-ups can often be arranged. We are looking for a suitable pick-up location in Ngongotaha. If you can help, contact info@brownowl.nz

Allergens
Please note that many of the packaged dry goods we sell are repackaged by Brown Owl from bulk bags. While due care is taken, trace amounts of allergens may be present, including in the products tagged as gluten-free. If allergens need to be strongly avoided please contact us to discuss your needs. In most cases we can order sealed, commercially-packed bags in for you.
